Boye® Electric Yarn Ball Winder 2.7 5 6 6
It was the worst machine ever It was the worst machine ever the motor had no power at all kept grinding and the yarn was free. Its piece of garbage . Returning it and looking for the hand winder one 1,000 x's better i bet April 29, 2015
Pretty amazing I purchased this product yesterday. It is pretty amazing the only downside I can see is that it will not wind a 198g roll into one cake. Also when it's on the highest speed setting it doesn't stay suctioned to the table and moves around. Otherwise I love it. March 24, 2015
worst purchase ever I bought this product and the same day the moter burnt out. I returned it the replacement didnt work right either. I have to use a hook to hold the yarn barrel up and go medium speed. Slow doesn't work at all and fast only makes a really loud sound. I was really hoping this prouduct would work, BUT it didn't. Love, love, love this winder! It is expensive, so I waited until I had a 50% off coupon. Follow the directions and you won't have a problem! January 2, 2015
Not worth the money I made the mistake of buying one of these a couple of years ago. It never had enough power to actually pull the yarn off the skein and wind it into a ball. The motor sounded like it was straining the whole time I tried to use it. Save your money and buy a hand-cranked winder, or learn how to wind a center-pull ball on your hand. It's pretty easy. There are plenty of instructions online. December 26, 2014
Common Sense is a must when using! I read a lot of reviews on this before buying. I was leery of buying it but I had a 60% off coupon that i used that brought the price to reasonable. After using it, i have very little complaints. It works if you read the directions. It is a bit loud, but no more than a vintage sewing machine. It WILL get stuck if there's knots/blobs. Just turn the machine off, take out the knot and turn the winder back on. It does make a grinding noise when stuck but if you are sitting with it, you can make it stop. I used varying sizes of yarn to try. I wound weight 1-6 with no problems. I wound many types, brands, etc. It works just fine if you follow the directions and use common sense. It will wind Bulky and Super Bulky!!!! However, You might make several balls from the original ball. For example i used a skein of Bernat Big Ball Chunky (431 yds) and it made 5 balls/"cakes" from the original skein. Red Heart Soft (231 yds) made one ball. Another chunky yarn in the same length made 3 balls. I wound 50 or so skeins in 8 hours. One skein by hand would take me an hour before the winder. It does slow down on its own when you get towards the end. if it gets stuck for no obvious reason, pull the guide lever up a teeny bit and it will continue on its way. The yarn that you stuff into the spool will come out after a time, but i just stuffed a piece of paper in after the strand of yarn and then began to wind. 9/10 times i had no problems with that method. Thecrochetzombie has a really good video on youtube on how to best use this machine.. Winding directly from the skein is possible and actually the fastest method i've tried. I do not own a swift and can't see justifying the cost when this works without one. I give this 4 stars because it could use some improvements but its a decent machine. This is not a Machine where you can set it up and leave it unsupervised. I hope they take this advice and redo the machine. I will look forward to seeing the improvements. November 25, 2014
