Material List

  • Aleene's® Original Tacky Glue™
  • Bread (Day Old is Best) - White
  • Cold Cream
  • Measuring Tablespoon
  • Craft Stick
  • Plastic Cup
  • Acrylic Paint - White and Green
  • Flexible Plastic Zip Top Bag

Project Instructions

Remove crust from bread.

Break bread into small pieces in cup.

Add one tablespoon Aleene's® Original Tacky Glue™ to cup along with dab of cold cream and 10 - 20 drops of acrylic paint.

Mix thoroughly with craft stick until bread starts to form into dough.

Remove mixture from cup and roll dough in hands until smooth. Don't worry if the mixture sticks to your hands at first, just keep rolling and kneading and it will transform into a smooth ball of clay after a few minutes. After the dough is thoroughly mixed, place in zip top bag.

Break off pea-sized pieces of dough.

To create center of rose, press dough between forefinger and thumb.

Continue to press dough until you have created a very thin petal.

Begin rolling from one side.

Continue rolling to create center of rose.

Create each petal by pressing until very thin. Add one petal at a time around center. Gently roll edge of petal back to create more realistic shape.

Continue to add petals and offset petals to create rose.

Be sure to keep the top edge of all petals even or your rose can quickly look like a pine cone!

Continue building the rose one petal at a time until desired size and shape.

To create leaf, add several drops of green acrylic paint to dough and mix to achieve desired color. Shape one piece of dough into leaf shape. Use plastic to mark vein lines into leaf. Press along edge of leaf at vein marks to add more detail. Press leaf to back of rose.

Let dry overnight. Glue onto desired surface.
