Drill a hole in each corner of each frame 1&½-inch from an 8-inch side and &½-inch in from a 10-inch side. Using a ruler and a craft knife, cut 3 pieces of stencil blank 5-inch x 7-inch or to fit inside the frame's openings.
Allow paints to dry between coats or steps. Paint all sides of all frames Wicker White.
On the outside of each frame run 7 strips of masking tape side by side across the 8-inch frame measurement starting at what will be the bottom edge. Peel off the second, fourth, and sixth tape strips. Press down all of the edges on the remaining tape strips. Use a separate sponge for each paint color. Dab Blue Ribbon paint where you removed the tape strips and Burgundy on the area above the tape strips. Remove the tape strips.
Apply paint to the stamps with the sponges. Use Whicker White to stamp clusters of stars on the stencil blanks and in each Burgundy painted corner on the frames. Stamp USA with Blue Ribbon in between the star clusters on the frame. Stamp single Burgundy stars 3 across the bottom of each frame and one on each side. (Refer to the photograph.)
Sand all frame edges and in one direction across the frame to remove bits of paint.
Spray FolkArt® sealer over the frames following the instructions on the can.
Mix Blending Medium and Maple Syrup together 2/3 Maple Syrup to 1/3 Blending Medium. Dip a paper towel into this mixture then rub all over the frames adding more mixture as needed.
Apply another coat of FolkArt® sealer.
Glue stamped stencil blank pieces onto the backs of the frames.
Cut 6 pieces of wire 30-inches long. Match up the sides of the frames then run the wires through the drilled holes bringing the ends evenly out to the front. Position the frames the twist the wires together. Form spirals on each wire end by bending a loop in the end of the wire then rotating the wire around in a circle. Bend spirals from each wire set to face opposite directions.
TipsMake sure your candle is in a glass container and the flame does not touch the sides.
Use these same techniques varying the colors and stamps to fit any occasion or décor.
