Project Instructions

Step: 1

Create several large sheets of Black Craftsman clay on #3 setting of the pasta machine.

Step: 2

Lay a sheet of clay that reaches from the top to the bottom of the vase, stretch the clay slightly so that it clings tightly to the glass. Note: No glue is needed to adhere the clay to the glass surface. Use your hands to lightly stroke the clay sheet and press out any trapped air bubbles.

Step: 3

Overlap the sheets of clay slightly and press into place. Use the Super Slicer blade to remove any excess clay in the overlap areas. Leave one of the overlaps to act as a textural focal point.

Step: 4

Slide your hand into the glass vase and texture the clay surface with the stamp. Overlap the stamped design and stamp the seams to blend them.

Step: 5

Apply the Spring Green Pearl Ex by rubbing your finger in the lid of the jar and lightly rubbing across the stamped clay. Note: A small amount of Pearl Ex can be poured onto a scrap sheet of paper and you can dip several fingers in it to apply on large surface areas. Just make sure that you rub the excess off before applying to the clay. Once the Spring Green Pearl Ex is applied, add small amounts of the Super Copper Pearl Ex to create a verdigris effect.

Step: 6

Trim the top and bottom edges again and bake according to the clay package directions. Be VERY CAREFUL when handling the vase when it is hot - the glass remains hot for a very long time.

Step: 7

The finished vase can be sealed with Sculpey Satin Glaze.
