  • Bernat® Softee Baby (140g/5 oz) 1 ball of #02000 White
  • Size 3.75mm (U.S. 5) Knitting Needles or size needed to obtain gauge

  • Bernat® Baby Coordinates (160g/5.6 oz) 1 ball of #01009 Soft Blue
  • Size 4mm (U.S. G or 6) Crochet Hook or size needed to obtain gauge


Project Instructions

Step: 1

Knit Booties: 24 sts and 32 rows = 4-inches (10cm) in stocking st.

Step: 2

Crochet Booties: 15 hdc and 11 rows = 4-inches (10cm).

Step: 4

ch = chain(s)
hdc = half double crochet

Step: 5

Cast on 33 sts. Work 10 rows in (K1. P1) ribbing.

Step: 6

Next row: (RS).( Eyelets). K1. *yo. K2tog. Rep from * to end of row.

Step: 7

Next row: Purl.

Step: 8

Divide for instep: Next row: K22. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked.

Step: 9

Next row: P11. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked.

Step: 10

Work 12 rows even across center 11 sts for instep.

Break yarn.

With RS facing, rejoin yarn to last st on right-hand needle. Pick up and knit 7 sts down right side of instep. K11 across instep. Pick up and knit 7 sts down left side of instep. K11 from left-hand needle. 47 sts.

Work 11 rows garter st (knit every row).

Step: 14

Shape heel and toe: 1st row: (RS). K2. K2tog. Knit to center 5 sts. K2tog. K1. K2tog. Knit to last 4 sts. K2tog.

2nd row: Knit.

Step: 17

Rep last 2 rows once more, then 1st row once. 35 sts rem. Cast off loosely knitwise (WS).

Step: 18

Sew back and sole seam. Using 2 strands of yarn, make a twisted cord 12-inches (30.5cm) long and thread through eyelet row having ends meet at center.

Step: 19

Note: Turning ch 2 does not count as hdc.

Ch 29.

1st row: (RS). 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch across. 27 hdc. Turn.

2nd to 5th rows: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc across. Turn.

6th row: Sl st in each of first 6 hdc. Ch 2. 1 hdc in same st as last sl st. 1 hdc in each of next 16 hdc.

Turn. Leave rem 5 hdc unworked.

7th to 11th rows: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc across.

Step: 26

Turn. 17 hdc.

Place marker at each end of 9th row.

Do not turn at end of 11th row.

12th row: Ch 1. Working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each hdc across. Fasten off.

Step: 30

Fold Bootie in half with RS facing each other. Join yarn with sl st at marked row and work 1 row of sc through both thicknesses to join seam down rem of cuff, around toe and across bottom of foot. Fasten off. Turn Bootie right side out. Fold down cuff.

Step: 31

Tie: Make a chain 12-inches (30.5cm) long. Weave through 7th row of cuff.
