Everyone loves monograms and letters. You’ll love how quick and easy this one is to paint. Use the painted letters directly on the wall, or glue onto a ribbon strip make a vertical hanger. This project coordinates with other bright ‘n cozy duck themed projects on our website for your baby’s nursery.

Material List

  • DecoArt Americana® Dura Clear Satin Varnish
  • ¼-inch Yellow Ribbon (8 inches)
  • 5/8-inch White Ribbon (36 inches or more depending on baby’s name)
  • White Craft Glue
  • Sanding Sponge
  • Soft Cloth
 

Project Instructions

Seal wood letters with Dura Clear Varnish. When dry, sand smooth. Wipe away sanding dust with a soft cloth.
 

Paint one letter Bahama Blue.
 

Shade edges with True Blue.
 

Using brush handle, randomly dot with three Snow White dots in a triangle pattern. Add a Bright Orange dot to the center of each triangle.
 

Paint one letter Pistachio Mint.
 

Shade edges with Bahama Blue.
 

Paint random spiral swirls with Bahama Blue.
 

Add random Snow White dots to letter.
 

Paint one letter Snow White.
 

Shade edges with Pistachio Mint.
 

Make a five petal dip dot flower with Bahama Blue.
 

Dot center of each flower Pistachio Mint. Add random Bright Orange dots to letter.
 

Paint one letter Bahama Blue.
 

Shade edges with True Blue.
 

Dot with three Snow White dots in a triangle pattern. Add a Bright Orange dot to the center of each triangle.
 

Paint one letter Pistachio Mint. Shade with Bahama Blue.
 

Paint five petal Snow White daisy flowers, dot center of daisy with Bright Orange. If more letters are needed, repeat the painting patterns on additional letters.
 

Glue ribbon hanging loops on the back of each letter, or use sawtooth hangers, then hang on wall.
 

To make a vertical hanger, fold ribbon over 1-inch and glue. Place letters on the strip of ribbon, then glue in place. Tie a Yellow ribbon bow, then glue at top of loop.
 

Tips

Use the handle end of the #1 brush to create dip dot patterns.
