Project Instructions

Make the links using the largest lampwork beads in the strands. For each link, place on an eye pin in the following order, a small metal bead or seed bead, a bead cap, the lampwork bead, a bead cap, a small metal bead or seed bead.

Once all the beads are on the eye pin, grasp the pin with your round nose pliers. The position on the prong (thin or thick) will determine the length of the wrap. Bend the pin back to a 90 degree angle. Rotate the pliers to position one prong on top. Pull the pin forward around the top prong.  Reposition, and then form the pin into a loop. Using pliers or your fingers, carefully wrap the wire around and down the stem. Continue as far down as you would like. Trim off extra wire. Using needle nose pliers or a crimp tool, smooth in the tail of the wire. Repeat these steps for each lampwork bead that you will need to make the correct length of your necklace.

Choose the lampwork link that you would like to use for the center pendant. Place a 4mm jump ring on the top of the link.

Attach the lampwork links together using a jump ring between each of them.

Find the center of the necklace length and attach the chosen pendant onto the connecting jump ring.

Once all links are connected together in a row, place one final jump ring at each end.

Open the jump rings at each end with pliers and place one half of the magnetic bail onto each jump ring. Close the jump ring with pliers.

To make the lampwork drops that hang between links, take an eye pin or a head pin and place a esthetically pleasing selection of beads, spacer beads, seed bead, and bead caps on each pin. Each pin should be different and unique in selection.

Once all the beads are on the pin, bend the pin to form a right angle. Cut the pin approximately ¼" beyond the beads. Use the round end of your pliers to grasp the end of the pin and curve the pin by using a rolling motion to fold it over a single round prong. You may need to release the pin and continue the rolling motion again. Be sure to start rolling from the end of the pin. This will give you a good round loop and sturdy connection.

Before closing the loop all the way, place it over the jump ring that links each of the sections together. You should place about three of these drops at each connection.
