Take one small circle copper metal blank. Create a hole on the opposite side of the existing hole using a steel hole punch tool. Make two pieces. These will now be called “Circle 1” and “Circle 2” throughout the instructions.
Take one square copper metal blank. Create one hole on any one side of the square using a steel hole punch. Make two pieces. These will now be called “Square 1” and “Square 2” throughout the instructions.
Take one square copper metal blank. Create two holes on any two parallel sides of the square, one hole per side. These will now be called “Square 3” throughout the instructions.
Connect the components below with a rivet.*
A. Align hole of Square 1 to first hole of Circle 1; rivet on mark.
B. Align second hole of Circle 1 to first hole of Square 3; rivet on mark.
C. Align second hole of Square 3 to first hole of Circle 2; rivet on mark.
D. Align second hole of Circle 2 to hole of Square 2; rivet on mark.
(You should now have the following sequence connected with rivets: Square 1, Circle 1, Square 3, Circle 2, Square 2.)
Carefully wrap the riveted sequence around a ring mandrel and very carefully hammer it down until it takes the ring shape on the mandrel. Slide riveted ring down the mandrel.
*To Rivet: Punch a hole that fits the diameter of eyelet in two metal blanks. Thread the eyelet through the holes in the metal. Push the metal blanks to fit tightly against the rolled edge of the eyelet. Place metal and eyelet connection on top of an anvil or hard flat surface. Hammer center punch down on the non-rolled end of eyelet to create a flare. Remove center punch then carefully hammer eyelet down with the round side of a ball-peen hammer until connection is secure.
