Project Instructions

Select 4 coordinating prints from the Bella Armoire stack, 3 to be used on the gift jar and the 4th for the coordinating frame.

Take the paper for the frame and cut a 1"x12" strip. Measure the strip against the bottom of your frame, and cut to the appropriate length. Attach strip directly onto frame using glue dots on each end. Insert photo and embellish the final product by adding a coordinating sticker. Set this aside.

Take the remaining 3 prints. Cut 2 pieces off the lightest print (2"x12" and 2"x1 ¼") to form the band on the jar. Adhere the strip directly to the jar, one inch up from the bottom. Secure your band every inch with glue. To finish, adhere the 2"x1 ¼" rectangle over the gap in the band to make it one solid piece. Make sure your overlap is facing the back.

The second print will be used to embellish the jar, and also be a background to the vellum quote. Cut a 3 1/8"x 4" square. Take out your vellum quote and cut it down so that it will fit in the center section of the square. Adhere the vellum quote directly to the square. After this, adhere your square directly to the jar, on the front, leaving ½" of the bottom of your band showing. Add any additional embellishments to this section, such as rhinestones or alphabet letters—just to give it a little bling. Finish it off by adding a black bow.

Remove the lid from the jar. Using the final print for the cap, cut a strip that will cover the side of the lid (approximately 9/16"x12"). Adhere. Set aside. Next, cut mat board to size (3 1/8"x3 1/8"). Cut a matching piece out of the lid print, do not adhere to matboard yet.

Create a tassel made from the gold ribbon. Hold your hand out and wrap ribbon around your four fingers (8-10 times). Slide gently off your fingers, keeping the ribbon in a loop. Take a separate piece of ribbon that is 4 ¼" long, thread through loop, and tie with 2 knots. Tie the loose ends of your 4 ¼" ribbon in a small knot at the top and cut off the excess. Take a 3rd piece of ribbon, 2" long, and tie your loops together, a ½" below your first knot. Trim excess ribbon off knot. Take your scissors and, going inside of your ribbon loop, cut the bottom of the loop in half. This will create your tassel!

Next, take your brad, tassel and square of paper. Hook your tassel under the brad, gently push the brad through the paper. Fold out brad tabs to secure onto paper square. Glue paper square to mat board. Glue backside of mat board to top of jar lid. Set aside and let dry.

Complete the jar by inserting rolled up messages or any other desired gift. Wrap up both gifts and give them to your graduate on their special day!

Tips

Use several types of ribbon (at least 3) to create your tassel. This gives it a distinctive, life-like look. Thin ribbon is highly recommended.
