Bernat® Softee® Baby Unicorn Lovey (Crochet)

Babies love blankies and soft toys, both of which quickly become beloved security objects. This Unicorn Lovey combines both in a quick to crochet lovey that is perfect for a gift.  Babies will love the soft colors and friendly smile of the unicorn. A picot edging adds a bit of sensory comfort and simple play.

Assembly

Sew Unicorn to center of Blanket with the nose pointing in the direction of the Blanket corner. Use matching yarn and weave in ends.
Cut two small circles from black felt for the eyes. With straight stitches and black embroidery floss and embroidery needle, stitch the eyes down and embroider nostrils. With pink embroidery floss, stitch a "v" shape for the mouth.

Tips

Use bright reds and blues and leave off the unicorn's horn to make a little cowboy-themed Horse Lovey.

Craft Notes

The pieces for the unicorn are all crocheted in the round in un-joined spirals. Use a locking stitch marker if necessary to mark the beginning of each round. When you complete a round, move the marker to the loop on your hook and continue crocheting.

In lieu of using sewn-on black felt, safety eyes may be used for an older child, or eyes may be embroidered on.

Make sure all of the pieces are assembled very securely for safety of the child.
