c6b = slip next 3 stitches onto cable needle and leave at back of work. K3, then K3 from cable needle

Instructions

With smaller needles, cast on 57 sts.

1st row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.

2nd row: P1. *K1. P1. Rep from * to end of row.

Rep last 2 rows once more, then 1st row once.

Next row: (WS). P24 (M1P. P1) 9 times. P24. 66 sts.

Change to larger needles.

1st row: (RS). K25. P2. K12. P2. K25.

2nd and alt rows: P25. K2. P12. K2. P25.

3rd row: K25. P2. C6B. C6F. P2. K25.

5th row: As 1st row.

6th row: As 2nd row.

Rep 1st to 6th rows once more, then 1st and 2nd rows once.

Shape top: 1st row: (RS). K1. (K2tog. K4) 4 times. P2. C6B. C6F. P2. K1. (K2tog. K4) 4 times. 58 sts.

2nd and alt rows: Knit all knit sts and purl all purl sts as they appear.

3rd row: K1. (K2tog. K3) 4 times. P2. K12. P2. K1.

(K2tog. K3) 4 times. 50 sts.

5th row: K1. (K2tog. K2) 4 times. P2. K12. P2. K1.

(K2tog. K2) 4 times. 42 sts.

Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts and fasten securely. Sew back seam.

Pom Pom: Wind yarn around three fingers 50 times. Tie tightly in the middle and leave a long end for attaching to Hat. Cut loops at both ends and trim to smooth round shape. Sew to top of Hat.
