Black and Champagne Coral Style Crystal Fringe Necklace
No real coral is harmed to create this luxurious look with lots of delicate branches of Crystazzi Crystal! Sophisticated black and champagne colored crystals enhance the linear textures created in this artistic design. The technique is addictive once you get started; make this your next statement piece!

- Beading Needle
First create the basic 3 strands of the necklace on beading wire, and then use the Nymo thread to embellish with branches last.
Cut a 24-inch piece of beading wire. Use a crimp to attach one end to the 6mm closed jump ring. Click to see crimping technique.
Thread onto the wire: 9-6mm black bicones, 3mm silver round, 3-6mm champagne bicones, 8mm black round, 3mm silver round, 4mm champagne bicone, 3mm silver round, 2-8mm black bicones, 3mm silver round, 4mm champagne bicone, 3mm silver round, 2-8mm black bicones, 3mm silver round, 4mm champagne bicone, 3mm silver round 2-8mm black bicones, 3mm silver round, 8mm black round, bead cap, 8mm black round, 3mm silver round and a 4mm champagne bicone at the center. The strand is a mirror image, so after the 4mm champagne in the middle, continue beading in reverse to complete.
Use a crimp to secure this strand to the small ring on the lobster clasp and this finishes the shortest (top) strand of the necklace.
Cut a 26-inch piece of beading wire. Use a crimp to attach one end to the 6mm closed jump ring under the first strand.
Thread onto the 2nd wire: 33-4mm black bicones, 6-8mm black bicones, 4-6mm black bicones, 6mm champagne bicone, 4mm black bicone, 6mm champagne bicone, 5mm silver round and 2-6mm black bicones. The 2nd black bicone is the center point of this strand. Continue beading this step in reverse to complete the strand.
Use a crimp to secure the end to the small ring on the lobster clasp below the first strand and this finishes the middle strand.
Cut a 28-inch piece of beading wire. Use a crimp to attach one end to the 6mm closed jump ring below the first 2 strands.
Thread onto the third wire: 3mm silver round, 12-6mm black bicones, 3mm silver round, 4mm black bicone, 3-6mm black bicones, 3mm silver round, 3-6mm black bicones, 3mm silver round, 3-6mm black bicones, 3mm silver round, 4mm champagne bicone, 3mm silver round and 3-6mm black bicones. Repeat this alternating pattern of silver/champagne/silver and 3 black bicones until there are 9 champagne sets on the strand. Finish with: 3-6mm black bicones, 3mm silver round, 3-6mm black bicones, 3mm silver round, 3-6mm black bicones, 4mm black bicone, 3mm silver round, 12-6mm black bicones and a 3mm silver round.
Use a crimp to secure the end to the small ring on the lobster clasp below the first 2 strands. Be careful to not pull this strand too tight, a little looseness will make it easier to bring the needle through when creating the branches.
The branches are a more artistic process, so this is presented as the general guidelines to achieve the branchlike effect and provide a photo for general reference. However, this is a technique where you may decide to give your branches a slightly different look, whether the lengths are different or there are more end clusters is up to you.
Cut as long a piece of Nymo thread as you are comfortable working with, we used about a 36-inch piece. You can see in the reference photo that the fringe is contained in the center section of the longest strand going from the center point of the 6mm champagne bicone to 3 champagne crystals out on both sides. Within this area, there are short to medium branches throughout and several longer branches mirrored toward the middle. You can choose to begin your threading at the outer edge and work your way to the center, or begin in the center and work your way out.
Thread Nymo onto a beading needle and not thread directly to the beading wire of the main strand, between 2 beads. Begin threading on 4mm black bicones to form the main length of the branch. For this example, place 4-4mm black bicones. Then thread on 3-4mm champagne bicones and a black seed bead. Bring the thread back down through the 3 champagne bicones; the seed bead forms an end. After the champagne bicones, bring the needle free and continue threading 4 more black bicones and this continues the main length of the branch. Thread on 3-4mm champagne bicones and a seed bead again.
Repeat the process of bringing the thread back down through the champagne beads and bring the needle free. Thread on 2 more 4mm black bicones and a seed bead. Bring the needle back down through the main black bicones of the branch. Gently pull the thread taut as you work and see the angular shape of the branch form. Bring the thread through a bead (or several) on the main necklace strand and bring it out where you want to form the next branch.
Refer to the photo to see how our sample branches were arranged to inspire your own creation. The length of Nymo will run out before the fringe is complete. Just knot to secure the end of the last strand of Nymo, cut a new length and continue around. A small dot of craft glue can be used to secure the knot. Use a pin to push and hide it inside of a bead if possible. This is a pretty forgiving method, if you don’t like the way a branch is coming out, the thread can be pulled back out and if the design seems too thin when you think you are done, it is easy to attach more thread and create more branches.
