Bright Green Marimekko Wall Art
Designer pros use accent pieces to liven up a neutral décor, and wall art made with STYROFOAM™ brand foam and vibrant fabric does just that. This technique adds a lot of “wow” for very little money, and when you tire of it, simply remove and replace the fabric.
Designed by The Dow Chemical Company
- STYROFOAM™ Brand Foam Sheets: 36-inch x 12-inch x 1-inch (4)
- Fabric of choice: Approximately 2-yards (yardage may vary based on width and pattern of fabric)
- Yardstick or Ruler
- Straight Pins
- Poster Adhesive or Small Sawtooth Hangers and Nails
- Low-Temp Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Cut four 18-inch x 42-inch panels from fabric, taking note of desired design placement. Center first foam sheet on back of fabric. Fold fabric around edges, smoothly mitering corners. Pin fabric to back to secure. Spot glue as necessary.
Cover three remaining panels in same way.
Use poster adhesive to attach to wall. Or, glue sawtooth hangers to back of each panel; for additional hold, insert and glue two straight pins through holes in sawtooth picture hanger; let dry.
To change the look, simply remove pins and fabric and repeat steps 1 and 2 with new fabric.
Use photo as a guide and follow manufacturer’s instructions for all products used.
We’ve used four 36-inch x 12-inch x 1-inch sheets of STYROFOAM brand foam, but you can mix and match your sizes to fill your space. Add more or fewer foam sheets as needed, or cut the foam sheets to size with a serrated knife. To really change it up, mix in a few 1-inch foam discs.
