Project Instructions
Draw design onto inside of brown bag with pencil.
Squeegee glue to inside of the brown bag.
Place piece of 18 gauge wire into glue.
Press the two thicknesses together and align line of the wire with the body of the butterfly.
Let glue dry. Cut out along pencil line.
Place glue onto butterfly shape. You will be burning wet glue, do not let glue dry.
Place butterfly shape with wet glue face down over the top of candle flame.
Keep butterfly shape wiht wet glue continually rotating in candle flame. Turn it over to check progress. The burning of the glue will cause glue to turn black and "sooty".
Continue until the entire front side of butterfly is black. Let glue dry. (You may then repeat the process for the reverse side of the butterfly).
After butterfly is completely dry, gently wipe away soot with paper towel.
Lightly apply Rub n Buff with your finger to highlight textured glue. Just a light application is best. You do not want to cover all the black surface area.
Repeat glue burning process wiht the box. Twist stem wire on butterfly with pencil. Make a small hole at top center of box. Insert end of wire into glue and then into hole. Let glue dry. To decorate box, make wire swirls and glue into place. If desired, create wire antennae for butterlfy and glue into place.
