Material List

  • FolkArt® Enamel Paints- Berry Wine, Lemon Custard, Sunflower, Wicker White, Periwinkle, Thicket and Grass Green
  • FolkArt® Enamel ¾” Flat Brush, #8 Filbert, #12 Flat, 3/8” Flat and #2 Script Liner
  • FolkArt® One Stroke™ Brush Caddy and 1220 Double Loader
  • Glass Candle Holder
  • Clean Cloth
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Paper Towels
 

Project Instructions

Step: 1

You may wish to follow the detailed instructions and view the projects and worksheets available in the One Stroke books, including 9836, Roses of All Kinds.

Surface Preparation:

Wipe the glass with glass cleaner to remove any dirt and oil.


Step: 4

Painting Instructions:


Step: 5

Please use the patterns following for practicing the strokes. These will make painting the roses and leaves very easy!

Step: 7

Double load the ¾” Flat brush with as shown. Start at the left bottom corner, pull and ‘wiggle’ the brush up and down to the bottom right corner (as shown on the pattern).

Step: 9

While paint is still wet, start the second petal, overlapping the first. Then, add the third petal.


Step: 10

Add the rose bud to the center of the rose.

Add the filler petals.

Leaves: see the pattern for step by step instructions!


Step: 13

The steps for painting the leaves are very similar for painting the rose petals.


Step: 14

Double load the #12 Flat brush with Thicket and Grass Green. Start at the top and pull down to the bottom, using the ‘wiggle’ stroke.


Step: 15

Add stems and small leaves as desired.


Tips

Change the colors of the flower and candle to coordinate with Mom’s bedroom or bath. Or, leave the glass unpainted and paint the candle itself.
