Step: 1

To prepare frame for painting, use sandpaper to lightly sand surface. Remove dust with paper towel.

Use flat brush to apply acrylic paint to surface. Let dry and apply second coat. Let dry.

Step: 3

Use brush to apply thin coat of craft glue to top portion of frame where clay will be adhered. Let dry.

Step: 4

Condition clay by kneading until soft. Follow directions on packaging. Use pasta machine or rolling pin to roll out clay to 1/8-inch thickness. Place clay onto front of frame. Any excess clay will be removed after adding texture. Lightly press clay onto wood. Sprinkle corn starch on Texture Sheet.

Step: 5

Lay Texture Sheet on clay. Roll acrylic roller over clay until an impression is made in the clay.

Step: 6

Reposition Texture Sheet until all of the clay is embossed.

Step: 7

Lay frame clay side down on a hard protected surface. Use craft knife to cut away excess clay from outside edges and inside frame openings.

Step: 8

Create words using letter tiles. Follow directions on packaging for using tile holder. Sprinkle a small amount of corn starch on clay where tiles are used.

Step: 9

Place frame on tray or aluminum foil. Bake in a preheated conventional or toaster oven at 275°F for 15 minutes per ¼-inch thickness. Remove from oven and let cool before handling.
