Project Instructions

  1. Have the students draw a mask shape onto a piece of foam with a pencil. With the teacher's help, students cut out the mask. Teachers, cut holes in the foam mask for eyes.
  2. Glue foam pieces and feathers to decorate the mask.
  3. Glue a craft stick onto the bottom of the mask.

Craft Notes

If desired, use non-toxic paint to paint the craft stick and let dry before gluing onto the mask.

Adult supervision is required at all times.

Background

After talking about Native American life and perhaps reading a story about Native Americans, have students create their very own Native American-inspired tribal mask.
