Project Instructions
HAT
Ch 4, join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as first dc here and throughout), 11 more dc in ring; join with sl st in first st – 12 dc.
Round 2: Ch 2, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st; join with sl st in first dc – 24 dc.
Round 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, [dc in next st, 2 dc in next st] rep around; join with sl st in first dc –36 dc.
Round 4: Ch 2, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, [dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st] rep around; join with sl st in first dc – 48 dc.
Round 5: Ch 2, dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, [dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st] rep around; join with sl st in first dc – 60 dc.
Rounds 6-7: Ch 2, dc in each st around; join with sl st in first dc – 60 dc.
Round 8: [Dc in next 2 sts, dc2tog] 15 times around; join with sl st in first dc – 45 dc.
Rounds-10: Ch 2, dc in each st around; join with sl st in first dc – 45 dc, do not fasten off.
BRIM
Begin working in rows.
Row 1 (RS): Working in front loops only, ch 2 (counts as dc), dc2tog, dc in each of the next 11 sts, dc2tog, dc in next st, turn, leaving rem sts unworked – 15 sts.
Row 2 (WS): Working in both loops, ch 1, sc in first st, [sc2tog] twice, dc in each of next 5 sts, [sc2tog] twice, sc in last st – 11 sts.
Row 3 (RS): Ch 1, skip 1 st, sc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next st, sl st in last st. Fasten off.
EDGING
Round 1: With RS facing, join with sl st on back of cap opposite brim, sl st in each st to brim, sc in ends of Rows 1-2 of brim, 2 sc in top of third row of brim, [sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] 5 times across brim, sc in next st, 2 sc in side of top (3rd) row of brim, sc in ends of Rows 2 and 1 of brim, sl st in each st to end of round. Join with sl st in first st. Fasten off.
HATBAND
Ch 21.
Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across – 19 dc. Fasten off, leaving an 8" tail for sewing.
FLOWER
Ch 4, join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 1, 6 sc in ring; join with sl st in first sc – 6 sc.
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, *(ch 1, dc, tr, dc, ch 1, sc) in same st; rep from * five more times; join with sl st in first sc.
FINISHING
With RS facing and yarn needle, sew hat band to Round 10 of hat above brim. Sew flower on end of hat band. Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
