Project Instructions

Step: 1

Getting Started: Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Knead clay for 2 minutes. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 ºF (130 ºC) for 15 minutes per 6mm (¼-inch) of thickness. Do not use in microwave oven. Do not exceed the above temperatures or recommended baking time. Baking should be completed by an adult. Wash hands after use.

Step: 2

Eggs
Roll two 1¼-inch balls of White into Egg Shapes. Decorate each egg as desired with Pale Pistachio, Ballerina, and Spring Lilac. Roll logs and flatten to make the striped eggs. Roll tiny balls and flatten to make polka dotted eggs. Press the bottom of the eggs gently against the work surface to create a flat bottom to keep the place card holders sitting upright. Set aside.

Step: 3

Chicks
Roll two 11/16-inch balls of Sunshine into pear shapes. Flatten the bottom and make belly button with toothpick.

Step: 4

Roll four 3/8-inch balls of Sunshine into a cone shape and flatten. Press to body. Have one wing flip out at bottom and one wing curve around to ‘hold’ the wire.

Step: 5

Roll two 19/32-inch balls of Sunshine into egg shapes and press to the body for the head. Press chicks to the top of the remaining eggs. Poke eye holes with toothpick. Roll four 1/16-inch balls of Black for eyes and drop into eye holes.

Step: 6

Roll two 5/32-inch Sweet Potato balls into cone shapes and flatten. Press below the eyes for beaks.

Step: 7

Roll four 1/8-inch balls of Sunshine into logs, press to the top of the head for fuzzies.

Step: 8

Cut approximately a 4-inch piece of craft wire and start to twist around a pen or pencil and continue to twist to desired shape. Press through chick so it looks as if the chick is holding the wire. Continue gently pushing the wire down through the egg.

Step: 9

Roll eight ¼-inch balls of Sweet Potato into cone shapes. Press the skinny ends together in pairs. Press each pair under the chicks and against the eggs for feet.

Step: 10

Bake according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Tips

Use photo as a guide and follow manufacturer’s instructions for all products used.

Make sure to clean hands and tools before starting your project.

Start with lighter colors and work your way down to darker colors, to avoid discoloring of the clay.
