Project Instructions

Step: 1

Frame:


Step: 2

Remove glass from frame and set aside. Sand frame's rough edges.


Step: 3

Remove cord from Christmas tree ornament and sand rough edges.


Step: 4

Basecoat outside edges of frame Evergreen; allow to dry.


Step: 5

Basecoat inside edges of frame Engine Red; allow to dry.


Step: 6

Cut a 5 ¾” x 10 ¾” piece of the words paper; use Mod Podge to adhere to front of frame, aligning with top edge; allow to dry.


Step: 7

Turn the frame upside down onto a cutting mat and use a craft knife to cut out the portion of the paper that covers the opening.


Step: 8

Cut red starburst paper into a 3 1/8” x 10 ¾” rectangle and use Mod Podge to adhere to front of frame, aligning with bottom edge; allow to dry.


Step: 9

Measure and cut red starburst paper into a 4” x 7 1/2” rectangle and use Mod Podge to adhere over the opening of the frame, making sure there is no space between the two red papers; allow to dry.


Step: 10

Turn the frame upside down onto a cutting mat and using a craft knife, cut out the portion of the paper that covers the opening.


Step: 11

Using scraps from Holiday Words paper, cut out letters to spell “Family” (use letters from different words); put letters along bottom of frame as if they are “dancing” and adhere with Mod Podge; allow to dry.


Step: 12

Using #1 liner, add a row of dots around opening of frame and along the top of the red paper with Wicker white (refer to photo).


Step: 13

Using #1 liner, add dots to the corner of each cut out letter with Wicker White; allow to dry.


Step: 14

Give the entire frame an even coat of Mod Podge; allow to dry, then insert a favorite photo.


Step: 15

Christmas Tree:


Step: 16

Paint front and sides of star School Bus Yellow; allow to dry.


Step: 17

Paint front and sides of tree Evergreen, being careful not to paint the ornaments; allow to dry.


Step: 18

Load a # 9 flat brush with Fresh Foliage and Evergreen and paint 3 slightly diagonal stripes across tree (refer to photo); allow to dry.


Step: 19

Paint ornaments Engine Red. Add a small accent line to each ornament using Wicker White and the #1 liner brush


Step: 20

Using #1 liner, paint garland on tree with School Bus Yellow; allow to dry.


Step: 21

Give entire tree a coat of Mod Podge; allow to dry.


Step: 22

Glue tree to lower right side of frame.


Tips

Cut out letters to spell different words such as “Cousins,” “Friends,” “Rejoice” or other saying that would be appropriate for the photo and/or gift recipient.
