City Gauntlets (Knit)

Pattern is written for Size Small Mini, Midi and Maxi Gauntlets, with changes for size Medium Gauntlets in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning.

Project Instructions

STITCH EXPLANATION

kfb (knit in front and back) Knit next st without removing it from left needle, then k through back of same st – 1 st increased.

NOTE:

Also shown are gauntlets in

Lion Brand® VANNA’S CHOICE® #144 Magenta or #147 Purple 1 (1, 2) ball(s).

GAUNTLETS

Cast on 25 (30) sts.

Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) until piece measures about 7 in. (18cm) from beg, end with a WS row.

Mini Gauntlet Only

Bind off.

Midi and Maxi Gauntlets

Next (Inc) Row: K1, kfb, k to last 2 sts, kfb, k1 – 27 (32) sts.

Continue in St st until piece measures about 12 in. (30.5 cm) from beg, end with a WS row.

Next Row: Rep Inc Row – 29 (34) sts.

Size Medium ONLY

Continue in St st until piece measures about 13 in. (33cm) from beg, end with a WS row.

Next Row: Rep Inc Row – 36 sts.

BOTH SIZES

Midi Gauntlet Only

Continue in St st until piece measures about 14 in. (35.5cm) from beg. Bind off.

Maxi Gauntlet Only

Continue in St st until piece measures about 15 in. (38cm) from beg, end with a WS row.

Next Row: Rep Inc Row – 31 sts.

Continue in St st until piece measures about 18 in. (46cm) from beg, end with a WS row.

Next Row: Rep Inc Row – 33 sts.

Continue in St st until piece measures about 21 in. (53.5cm) from beg. Bind off.

FINISHING

Beg at hand edge of Gauntlet, seam sides for 1 1/2 in. (3.8cm). Leave 2 in. (5cm) unseamed, then sew remainder of seam. Weave in ends.

SIZES: Small (Medium) Mini About 6" (7.5") (15cm (19cm)) circumference, about 7" (18cm) long Midi About 7" (9") (18cm (23cm)) circumference at upper edge, about 14" (35.5cm) long Maxi About 8" (10") (20.5cm (25.5cm)) circumference at upper edge, about 21" (53.5cm) long Gauntlets are meant to fit with negative ease (gauntlet circumference should be less than body measurement) for a snug fit. GAUGE 16 sts = 4" (10cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
