Project Instructions

Step 1 Cut a 1-inch piece of 20-gauge wire. Using chain nose pliers, make a 90° bend 5/16" from the end of the wire. Switch to round nose pliers, and form a round loop from the 5/16" length of wire. Slide a 3mm faceted blue iris round onto the wire. Use chain nose pliers to make a 90° bend next to the bead. Trim the wire to 5/16". Use round nose pliers to form the 5/16" of wire into a round loop. Repeat to make a second link just like the first. Repeat 18 more times, completing a total of 19 links.

Step 2 Connect together 17 links made in step 1 into a continuous section of chain.

Step 3 Cut a 1-inch piece of 20-gauge wire. Using chain nose pliers, make a 90° bend 5/16" from the end of the wire. Switch to round nose pliers, and form a round loop from the 5/16" length of wire. Slide a 3x4mm faceted blue iris rondel onto the wire. Use chain nose pliers to make a 90° bend next to the bead. Trim the wire to 5/16". Use round nose pliers to form the 5/16" of wire into a round loop. Repeat to make a second link just like the first. Repeat 17 more times, completing a total of 18 links.

Step 4 Connect together the links made in step 3 into two chain sections, 10 links each.

Step 5 Cut a 4-inch section of 20-gauge hematite wire. Make a wire-wrapped loop on one end of the wire. Slide one 6mm bumpy spacer bead, one 8mm silver iris round and one 6mm bumpy spacer onto the wire. Make a second wire wrapped loop. Repeat three more times, completing a total of four links. Set two of the four links aside.

Step 6 Slide one 8mm silver iris round, one 6mm bumpy spacer and one 3mm faceted round onto a headpin. Make a wire wrapped loop above the top bead, forming a wire wrapped loop. String the beads to make two more dangles, and set them aside before completing the wire wraps.

Step 7 Cut a 4-inch section of 20-gauge hematite wire. Form a loop on one end of the wire, but do not wrap. Slide the formed loop through one loop of a 10mm round crystal slider. Complete the wire wrapped loop. Slide one 6mm bumpy spacer bead, one 8mm silver iris round and one 6mm bumpy spacer onto the wire. Form the second loop, but do not wrap. Slide on one loop of a flower component, then complete a wire wrapped loop. Attach a second wire-wrapped to the opposite loop of the flower component. Repeat all steps, attaching two wire wrapped links and a round crystal slider to the second flower component.

Step 8 Open one 6mm 18-gauge silver jump ring, and add it through the unoccupied loop of the round crystal slider and through one loop of a 8mm blue iris wire-wrapped link made step 5.

Step 9 Slide a 6mm 18-gauge jump ring through the bottom loop of the flower slider and the loop of the dangle completed in step 6. Close the jump ring. Slide a jump ring through the top loop of the flower slider, add both wire wrapped links attached to flower connectors. Make sure the wire wrapped links are arranged so one link sits on each side of the center loop of the slider.

Step 10 Open the end loop of one 10-link chain section completed in step 4. Attach the loop to the jump ring at the bottom of the slider. Close the loop. Attach the other end of the 10-link chain to the jump ring attached to the 10mm round crystal slider. Repeat on the opposite side.

Step 11 Open the end loop of the 17-link chain section. Attach this loop to the top loop of the 8mm wire wrapped link attached to the 10mm round crystal slider. Close the loop. Repeat on the opposite side, attaching the chain so it hangs from one side of the necklace to the other, sitting behind the flower slider.

Step 12 Cut a 1-1/2-inch piece of 20-gauge wire. Using chain nose pliers, make a 90° bend 5/16" from the end of the wire. Switch to round nose pliers, and form a round loop from the 5/16" length of wire. Slide one 6mm bumpy spacer bead, one 8mm silver iris round and one 6mm bumpy spacer onto the wire. Use chain nose pliers to make a 90° bend next to the bead. Trim the wire to 5/16". Use round nose pliers to form the 5/16" of wire into a round loop. Repeat to make a second link just like the first. Repeat five more times, making a total of six links.

Step 13 Open one loop of a link made in the previous step. Attach this loop through a wire wrapped 8mm link (completed in step 5) at the very end of the chain. Open the second loop of the same link, string one loop of a 10mm round crystal slider. Repeat on the opposite side.

Step 14 Open the loop on another link completed in step 12. Attach it to the opposite loop of the round crystal slider. Close the loop. Open the other loop of the same link, attach an 8mm wire wrapped link (from step 5). Close the loop. Repeat on the opposite side.

Step 15 Open the loop on another link completed in step 12. Attach it to the wire unoccupied loop of the wrapped link added in the previous step. Close the loop Repeat on the opposite side.

Step 16 Open the loop of a small link completed in step 1. Attach it to the unoccupied loop of the link added in the previous step. Close the loop. Open the opposite loop, and attach one half of the toggle clasp. Repeat on the opposite side, attaching the second half of the toggle clasp.

Step 17 Take one of the dangles prepared in step 6. Wire wrap the dangle directly into a 6mm silver jump ring attached to a round crystal slider on the front half of the necklace. Repeat with the remaining dangle on the opposite side.
