Step: 1

Prewash T-shirt to remove sizing. Do not use fabric softener.

Step: 2

Cover work surface with plastic tablecloth or trash bag. Lay damp T-shirt on prepared surface.

Step: 3

Wearing rubber gloves, add water to Yellow dye bottle. Replace cap tightly and shake bottle until dye is dissolved.

Step: 4

Squeeze Yellow dye over entire tee, leaving no white areas.

Step: 5

Cover tee with plastic tablecloth/trash bag and let sit 4 to 6 hours. Wash in a large load of water with a small amount of laundry soap and dry in dryer.

Step: 6

Re-cover work surface with a clean tablecloth/trash bag and place dry Yellow T-shirt onto surface.

Step: 7

Wearing rubber gloves, add water to the Blue and Violet dye bottles. Replace caps tightly and shake bottles until dye is dissolved.

Step: 8

Poor each dye into a separate cup. Referring to photo for Ikat design, use a dry paintbrush to brush dyes onto tee, with Violet in the center of design and Blue surrounding Violet. Dye will soak through to back of tee. Flip shirt over once front is complete and brush more dye onto tee where design has soaked through so design is on both front and back.

Step: 9

Cover fabric with plastic tablecloth/trash bag and let sit 4 to 6 hours. Wash in a large load of water with a small amount of laundry soap and dry in dryer.
