Project Instructions

  1. Use 20 sheets of white construction paper to create a booklet, attaching together with staples, hole punch and yarn. Give the booklet to the student.
  2. Have students decorate construction paper for a booklet cover. Attach the cover to the booklet using the same process as in step 1.
  3. Have students use markers to write a number, 1-20, at the top of each page, one number per page.
  4. Have students draw the correct number of objects for the corresponding number at the top of each page.

Craft Notes

Adult supervision is required at all times.

Background

After reviewing numbers and their correspondence to the number of objects (colored blocks, balls, etc.), give each student a blank book and have them illustrate the numbers 1-20 with their chosen theme (ladybugs, stars, shoes, trucks, dolls, etc.) Check that students are accurate in drawing the correct number of objects for each number. Several class periods will be necessary to complete this project. Then have students share their books with the rest of the class to reinforce their learning.
