MEASUREMENTS
Approx 34 ins [86.5 cm] square.

Boy’s Version (Bear)
Main Color MC (91129 Wonder Dreams) 5  balls
Contrast A (90005 Wonder White) 1 ball
Contrast B (90128 Little Boy Blue) 1 ball
Small amount of Dk blue color for eyes and nose embroidery
Small amount of stuffing for muzzle

Girl’s Version (Flower)

Sizes H/8 (5 mm) and I/9 (5.5 mm) crochet hooks or size needed to obtain gauge.

12 sc and 15 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with larger hook.

Note: Ch 2 at beg of row does not count as hdc.

With MC, ch 111.

1st row: (WS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. *Ch 1. Miss next ch. 1 sc in next ch. Rep from * to last ch. 1 sc in last ch. Turn. 110 sts.

2nd row: Ch 2. 1 hdc first sc. *Ch 1. Miss next sc. 1 hdc in next ch-1 sp. Rep from * to last sc. 1 hdc in last sc. Turn.

3rd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first hdc. *Ch 1. Miss next hdc. 1 sc in next ch-1 sp. Rep from * to last hdc. 1 sc in last hdc. Turn.

Rep last 2 rows until work from beg measures approx 34 ins [86.5 cm], ending with 3rd row. Fasten off.

Hood

With A and smaller hook, ch 30.

1st row: (RS). 1 dc in 4th ch from hook. 1 dc in each ch to last 3 ch. (Yoh and draw up a loop in next ch. Yoh and draw through two loops on hook) twice. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook - dc2tog made. 1 tr in last ch. Turn.

2nd row: Ch 3. Dc2tog over next 2 sts. 1 dc in each dc to end of row. Turn.

3rd row: Ch 3. 1 dc in each dc to last 3 sts. Dc2tog over next 2 sts. 1 tr in last st. Turn. 

Rep last 2 rows to 2 sts. Fasten off.

Boy’s version only: Bear Muzzle

With smaller hook and B, ch 9.

1st rnd: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each of next 6 ch. 3 sc in last ch. Do not turn, working in rem loops of foundation ch, 1 sc in each of next 6 ch. 1 sc in last ch. Join with sl st to first sc. 18 sc.

2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sp as last sl st. 2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 6 sc. 2 sc in each of next 3 sc. 1 sc in each of next 6 sc. 2 sc in last sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 24 sc.

3rd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sp as last sl st. 1 sc in next sc. 2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 8 sc. (2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sc) twice. 2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 8 sc. 2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in last sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 30 sc.

4th rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in next sc. 1 hdc in each of next 2 sc. 1 dc in each of next 7 sc (top side of Muzzle). 1 hdc in each of next 2 sc. 1 sc in next sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 32 sts.

5th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 3 sc. 1 dc in each of next 11 sts. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

With Dk blue yarn embroider Nose and Mouth. (see picture).

Sew Muzzle to Hood, stuffing Muzzle lightly.

With Dk blue yarn embroider Eyes.

Ears (make 2)

With smaller hook and B, ch 5.

1st row: (RS). Ch 1. 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each of next 2 ch. 2 sc in last ch. Turn. 6 sc.

2nd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn. 8 sc. 

3rd and 4th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in every sc to end of row. Turn. 

5th row: Ch 1. Draw up a loop in each of first 2 sc. Yoh and draw though all loops on hook - sc2tog made. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc. Sc2tog over last 2 sc. Turn. 

6th row: Ch 1. Sc2tog over first 2 sts. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc2tog over last 2 sts. Fasten off. 

Girl's version only: Flower

Center: With smaller hook and A, ch 2.

1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc. 6 sc.

2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. 12 sc.

3rd rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 18 sc.

4th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 24 sc. Fasten off.

1st Petal: With RS of work facing, join B with sl st to back loop of any st.

**1st row: (RS). Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. Working in back loops only, 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. 1 sc in next sc. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked. 6 sc.

2nd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn. 8 sc.

3rd to 5th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in every sc to end of row. Turn.

6th row: Ch 1. Sc2tog over first 2 sts. 1 sc in every sc to last 2 sts. Sc2tog over last 2 sts. Turn.

7th row: As 6th row. Do not turn. 

Working along left side of Petal, sl st in every row down to Center. Sl st in back loop of next sc of Center.**

2nd to 6th Petals: Work from ** to ** as given for 1st Petal. Fasten off at end of last petal.

Sew Flower to Hood (see picture).
 

Both Versions
Edging: Pin Hood to any corner of Blanket. 

With larger hook, join B with sl st to any corner of Blanket.

1st rnd: Ch 1. *Work 101 sc along side of Blanket. 3 sc in corner. Rep from * 3 times more, working through both thicknessess at Hood area. Join with sl st to first sc.

Boy’s Version only: 2nd rnd: Working from left to right instead of right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Girl’s Version only: 2nd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as sl st. *Miss next 2 sc. (Ch 1. 1 dc) 4 times in next sc. Ch 1. Miss next 2 sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around, ending with: miss next 2 sc. (Ch 1. 1 dc) 4 times in next sc. Ch 1. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
