Project Instructions

Step 1 Draw and cut one 1" square from the silver, copper and gold metal blanks with metal shears; put aside.

Step 2 Place one silver round earring metal blank on the steel bench block. Hold the metal blank in place with long nose pliers and texture using the ball peen end of hammer. Repeat with copper round earring metal blank.

Step 3 To create the silver pendant component:

A. Place silver square blank on the steel bench block. Hold the metal blank in place with long nose pliers and texture using the striped parallel end of hammer.

B. Use the steel hole punch to create the following holes on the textured silver square metal:

1) Three random holes in one corner of textured square.

2) Two holes on parallel sides of square, each hole 1/8" from corners.

C. Insert one small rivet through the first hole on the three-hole corner of metal square and rivet.* Rivet the two remaining holes in this corner.

*To Rivet: Punch a hole that fits the diameter of eyelet in two metal blanks. Thread the eyelet through the holes in the metal. Push the metal blanks to fit tightly against the rolled edge of the eyelet. Place metal and eyelet connection on top of an anvil or hard flat surface. Hammer center punch down on the non-rolled end of eyelet to create a flare. Remove center punch then carefully hammer eyelet down with the round side of a ball-peen hammer until connection is secure.

Step 4 To create the gold and copper components:

A. Select the textured silver round earring blank. Align three existing holes of earring blank on top of the 1" copper square blank. Mark the square copper blank where the holes align then create holes on mark using the steel hole punch tool.

B. Insert one small rivet through the first aligned holes on silver round earring blank and square copper blank. Rivet the hole. Rivet the remaining two aligned holes. Cut excess material off round earring blank using the copper square blank as guideline for where to make the cut.

C. Create two holes on parallel sides of square, each hole at 1/8" from corners.

D. Repeat Step 4 (A-B) using the textured copper round earring blank and gold square blank. Create two holes on one side of square, each hole at 1/8" from corners.

Step 5 Connect one small gold jump ring on each of the all existing open holes on silver, copper and gold components.

Step 6 Connect bottom jump rings on copper component to top jump rings on silver component using one small gold jump ring for each connection. Connect bottom jump rings on silver component to top jump rings of gold component.

To wear: Replace the two top small jump rings on copper component with large jump rings, then slide pendant through cord of choice.
