Project Instructions

Step: 1

Cover work surface with plastic trash bags.

Step: 2

Wet shirts then wring dry. Place on work surface and smooth flat.

Step: 3

Starting at bottom of shirts scrunch up to form a log shape. Rubber band five equally spaced sections on each shirt.

Step: 4

Wearing gloves from kit, fill dye bottles with water then shake each till dye is thoroughly mixed.

Step: 5

Lay rubber banded shirts on prepared surface one above the other. Squeeze dye into each section of shirt, dye first section at left green then work across with yellow, fuchsia, turquoise and violet. Keep turning shirt so all sides receive dye. Use a half bottle of dye on each shirt.

Step: 6

Let set 4 - 6 hours then carefully snip off rubber bands. Wash in washer with full load of water and a small amount of laundry soap. Dry in dryer.

Step: 7

To create dress, start by cutting across one shirt just under sleeves. Remove excess. Place the right side of cut edge along the right side of hem on other shirt lining up color stripes. Apply a thin line of Fabric Fusion™ between fabric along cut edges then press to secure. Let dry then turn right side out.

Step: 8

Referring to cutting lines, use scissors to cut an inch out from neck ribbing curving down to just under sleeve.

Step: 9

To spatter dress, lay dress front side down on work surface covered with trash bags. Squeeze a medium puddle of Platinum Soft Paint onto foam plate. Thin down with a few drops of water, then use brush to mix to consistency of melted ice cream adding more water if needed. Fill brush with paint then flick wrist-releasing paint onto bottom area of dress. Continue spattering where desired filling brush as needed. Let dry and repeat step on front of dress.

Step: 10

Remove crystals from package then place where desired around neckline of dress. Following Crystal package instructions, touch tip of iron to each crystal to adhere. Let crystal cool. Touch with finger to make sure they have adhered, if not, repeat step with iron.

Tips

Protect your work surface with large plastic bags or a disposable plastic tablecloth - makes for quick cleanup too!
