Project Instructions

Step: 1

Dr. Jekyll Mask
Cut out eyebrows and mustache from 8½-inch x 11-inch black felt piece using pattern provided. Glue onto mask with Aleene’s® Original Tacky Glue®.

Step: 2

Mr. Hyde Mask
Using craft knife, carefully enlarge eyes in mask by cutting around eyeholes. Enlarge nostrils and cut out mouth. (Note: Cutting does not need to be precise as you are creating a monster.)

Step: 3

Cut piece from 3-inch x 3-inch black stiffened felt to fit inside mouth hole. Glue in place.

Step: 4

Pour approximately ½ cup of Original Tacky Glue® into plastic container. Add water a little at a time and stir until glue is thinned to a milky consistency. Tear tissue paper in various-sized pieces. Working in small sections, brush glue onto left side of mask and quickly place a piece of tissue onto glue. Continue laying tissue on mask, manipulating with fingers to create wrinkles, lumps and bumps. Leave the right side of the face smooth as shown. Let dry.

Step: 5

Pour some Golden Tan, Glacier White and Holiday Green onto a piece of foil. Mix together to create a murky greenish color. Paint entire mask. Let dry.

Step: 6

Paint Ebony lines around eyes and nostrils. Paint a thin line of Crimson Red around mouth.

Step: 7

Mix a small amount of Golden Tan into Glacier White and paint in some teeth on the black felt behind the open mouth.

Step: 8

Glue excelsior around top of mask for hair and above eyes for eyebrows.

Step: 9

Cape
Press wrinkles from the two 36-inch x 36-inch felt pieces. Refer to pattern to construct. Note: A live model or mannequin is helpful in creating the cape.

Step: 10

Place the two sides together to where they form a triangle. Fold the two points at the neck under to form the collar.

Step: 11

Cut a small piece of felt from the piece remaining from the mustache and eyebrows. Fold over to make approximately a 1½-inch x 4-inch strip; glue together. To this add a strip of Velcro.

Step: 12

From under the folded collar, fit the Velcro strip and attach the sides together. The reverse side of the cape will be open. Refer to pattern.

Step: 13

Splash some True Red 3D Fashion Paint™ onto the attached side of cape to simulate blood. Let dry. This will be Mr. Hyde’s side of cape.

Step: 14

To close Dr. Jekyll’s cape, make another felt strip with two pieces of Velcro on each side that will attach to cape.

Step: 15

Make two bows with the wide ribbon. Attach each with Velcro to both sides of cape.

Step: 16

Cane
Paint dowel with Ebony Matte Soft Fabric Paint™. Let dry. Make indentation in Styrofoam ball to fit end of dowel. Pour some glue into hole and insert dowel.

Step: 17

Paint ball with Crimson Red or with desired color. Let dry.
