  • 3/4" 36" Wood Dowel, Halved for Legs
  • Fun Foam - Purple (ears)
  • Red Fabric (Cape)
  • Flat Styrofoam (1-15/16" Thick) (Feet)
  • Versa-Tool by Walnut Hollow
  • Large foam ball or other foam to fit inside body
  • Low Heat Glue Gun and Glue
  • Water Container
  • Palette or Plastic Plate
  • Paper Towels
  • Craft Knife
  • Tracing and Transfer paper
  • Sandpaper
  • Red Grosgrain Ribbon
  • Crayola Model Magic (any color)
 

Project Instructions

Use VersaTool to remove top third of large pumpkin, cutting in scallops. Retain bottom section for body and top section for another use.

Invert body. Use Versa Tool to cut a hole for small pumpkin stem “neck” to fit snugly.

Trace and transfer “feet” pattern on flat Styrofoam sheet. Use craft knife to cut out shapes. Use sandpaper to make shape edges rounded.

Use ¾ flat brush and White to paint a V-shape “shirt” on body. Paint remainder of body, Styrofoam feet and dowel legs Black. Set aside.

Use ¾ flat brush and Lavender to paint face area on small pumpkin.

Use ¾ flat brush and Black to paint remainder of head including peaked hairline and sideburns.

Trace and transfer eyes nose and mouth.

Use #8 flat to paint eyeballs and teeth White. Paint inside mouth and eye irises Black.

Use liner brush and Black to outline eyelids. Use White to paint eye highlight.

Use brush handle and White to dot eyes.

Use True Red to paint nose.

Trace and transfer ears onto purple foam. Use scissors to cut out.

Position ears and adhere.

Fit Styrofoam ball or block inside body and secure with glue.

Push dowel legs up inside body and secure with glue.

Position “feet” and push opposite end of legs into Styrofoam. Secure with glue.

Position red fabric for cape and secure with glue.

Position and adhere two ribbon pieces to cape ends under neck. Tie into a bow.

Tips

Any color of Model Magic may be used for nose. Once it dries, paint the nose Lavender to match face.
