Dried Floral Basics

   

 

Design Concepts

 

Layering:

  • Work with an assortment of materials & layer or stack to create a textured design
  • Garlands, sprays & festoons can be made using this concept

Gathering:

  • Feather bunches of drieds as if they were just collected from the garden
  • Finish off by securing with a ribbon or placing loosely in a vase or basket

Bunching:

  • Bundle drieds right out of the packages using wire or ties
  • Secure several bundles together to form your arrangement
  • Arrangements can stand alone or be tied to a wreath, topiary or other home accent
  • Combine several basic design concepts to create more advanced arrangements

 

Your Dried Arrangement

 

Identify What’s Important

  • Tall or short
  • Wall hanging or table top
  • Color scheme

Choose Your Materials

  • Create height, texture & interesting lines with grains, grasses & branches
  • For short arrangements combine ferns, foliage & flowers

Select the Perfect Container

  • Use tall, narrow containers for taller arrangements
  • Wall hanging arrangements hang easily in flat-backed containers

The Finishing Touch

  • Use coordinating ribbon & raffia to finish your project

To Make Arranging Easier Be Sure To Have:

  • Hot glue gun/glue sticks
  • Knife (to cut floral foam)
  • Heavy duty scissors
  • Floral wire
  • Floral tape
  • Wire cutters
  • Foam blocks and shapes
  • Spanish moss or something creative to cover floral foam.
