Project Instructions
Costume
Begin with a plain t-shirt to fit size of child.
Cut off sleeves to create a sleeveless opening similar to a swimsuit or leotard cut. Cut out neckline of T-shirt into a V-neck.
Apply white Duck Tape® to the top half of T-shirt.
Begin making the Duck Tape® fringe to bottom of T-shirt. To make this fringe, cut approximately a 5" strip. Stick about 1½" of the tape to the T-shirt. Use additional Duck Tape® as needed to keep fringe from sticking. Continue to repeat until the entire dress is surrounded. Cut a point on each strip or flap.
Repeat Step 4 to create another layer. Make five layers, separating by 1½".
Once layers of fringe are complete, wrap matching Duck Tape® around waist.
Using a sheet of white Duck Tape®, cut a point to accent the bottom of the waistline on the front and back of the dress. \
Using a sheet of silver Duck Tape® cut a "V" to overlap the neckline of the dress. Accent with silver dots made with a hole punch.
Cut accents to waist using the flat sheet silver Duck Tape®.
Cut open back, tape tabs to back, use Velcro® for closure and size to fit.
Ice Skates
Draw a pattern of a shoe sole on cardboard.
Form two sheets of tissue paper into a boot shape. Begin taping the tissue and sole together to form a boot using white Duck Tape®. After the boots are wrapped add a black sheet Duck Tape® cut in a sole shape to the bottom.
Cut out a heel in cardboard and cover with black Duck Tape®. Use a glue dot to hold heel to sole.
Cut out small stripes to create "X" for the laces out of black Duck Tape® sheet. Using a hole punch, cut out silver dots for the lace holes.
Also cut out a shape of a ice skate blade and cover with silver Duck Tape® sheet. Attach to the bottom of the sole with black Duck Tape®.
Cut out four tabs of white tape and stick to the top of the boots making a flap in which to punch a hole and tie black yarn for the shoestrings. Tie strips together so skates can drape around your neck.
