Cut out Simplicity pattern pieces using design E.
Pin the pattern pieces to the fabric as directed in the pattern instructions.
Cover the front of each fabric piece in black tape and trim excess.
Cut darts out of the back and front pieces and use small 1-inch X 2-inch pieces of black tape to tape them back together.
Use 1-inch X 2-inch pieces of black tape to tape the two front pieces to the back on the sides and shoulders.
Make the collar and sleeves according to the pattern instructions using tape instead of actually sewing on the pieces.
Trim off all but about 6-inches of the sleeves and gather and tape the edges to make them “poofy.” Secure the gathers in place with pieces of black tape.
Use the X-Acto knife to cut 6-inches of aqua tape to trim the edges. Fold the piece in half sticky sides NOT together. Crease tape and place the crease of the sticky side along the bottom edge of the jacket and fold the sticky sides up on either side of the jacket. Repeat until the entire edge of the jacket is trimmed in aqua. Note: It may be necessary to use smaller pieces to work around the curves of the jacket.
