Project Instructions

Step: 1

Size
Bag measures 10½-inches wide x 9-inches long.


Step: 2

Gauge
4 dc = 1-inch; 1 sc row and 1 dc row = 1-inch. Use any size hook to obtain the specified gauge.

BAG
Side (Make 2)


Step: 4

Ch 42.


Step: 5

Row 1 (Right Side): Dc in 4th ch from hook (beginning 3 skipped chs count as first dc), dc in each remaining ch across, turn.


Step: 6

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each dc across, turn.


Step: 7

Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as a dc), working in front loops only, dc in first sc, ch 1, *2 dc in next sc, ch 1, repeat from * across to last sc, (dc, ch 3, slip st) in last sc, turn.


Step: 8

Row 4: Ch 1, working in unused back loops of Row 2, sc in each loop across, turn.


Step: 9

Row 5: Ch 3, dc in each sc across, turn.


Step: 10

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in each dc across, turn.


Step: 11

Rows 7-26: [Repeat Rows 3-6] 5 times.

Rows 27 and 28: Repeat Rows 3 and 4.

Rows 29-38: Repeat Row 6.

Row 39: Slip st in each of next 10 sc, (slip st, ch 1) in front loop of next sc, ch 3, working in front loops only, (dc, ch 1) in same st as last slip st, (2 dc, ch 1) in each of next 18 sc, (dc, ch 3, slip st) in next sc, turn.

Row 40: Repeat Row 4.

Row 41: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.

Rows 42-48: Repeat Row 41.

Fasten off.

Finishing
Fold rows 40-48 of one side around one handle from front to back and sew together at back side. Repeat with remaining side.


Step: 20

Edging
Hold pieces with right wide facing, working through both thicknesses at same time, join yarn with slip st in top left-hand corner, working across side, sc evenly to bottom corner, 3 sc in corner, working across bottom edge, sc evenly across to next corner, 3 sc in next corner, working across next side, sc evenly to top edge. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
