Ch 38.
Step: 4
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across - 37 sts.
Step: 5
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across.
Step: 6
Rep Row 2 until piece measures about 7-inches (18cm) from beg.
Step: 7
Next Row: Ch 4 (counts as 1st tr), sk next sc, work 1 tr in next sc, * sk 4 sc, (tr, ch 1, tr, ch 1, tr, ch 1, tr) in next st - Shell made; rep from * across, end last rep sk 4 sc, 2 tr in last sc.
Step: 8
Next Row: Ch 4, turn. Sk next tr, tr in next tr, *work Shell in center ch-1 space of Shell; rep from * across, end 2 tr in last tr.
Step: 9
Rep last row until piece measures about 13-inches (33cm) from beg. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Fold lower edge of Clutch up about 5 inches (12.5 cm), and seam sides. Sew on button. Space between sts serves as buttonhole. Weave in ends.
