Project Instructions

Cut wire to approximately 8" length for each petal.

Use plastic cap to bend wire into loop.

Twist ends to form petal.

Apply Aleene's® Turbo Tacky Glue to back of wire. Be certain that glue is in one solid line.

Press onto right side of fabric. Let dry.

Cut along outside of wire.

Apply Aleene's® Turbo Tacky Glue along outside edge of petal. Press onto backing fabric.

Cut away excess fabric, leaving approximately ¼" along side and top edges, tapering down to flush with wire at the bottom.

Determine desired size of flower center. To keep sweater fabric from fraying, apply line of glue in circle. Gently spread glue with finger to create broader application. Let dry. Cut along center of glue line. With needle and thread, stitch basting stitch along inside of dried glue line. Fill center with Poly-fil(R) and pull stitch to close fabric around filling. Pull tightly and secure end of thread.

Bend the end of each petal at an approximate 90 degree angle right above twist line. Gather all five petals together.

Wrap wires with florist tape. Hint: remember with florist tape that you need to stretch it as you apply it in order to get it to stick to itself. Add skewer alongside petals and re-wrap with florist tape to secure skewer to wires to create stem. If desired, tear ½" strip of fabric for stem. Apply glue to end of fabric, wrap around stem and glue to secure every few inches to cover stem.

Apply glue to center of flower.

Press flower center into glue. Let dry.

To create leaf, bend wire to desired shape and glue onto leaf fabric. Let dry. Cut away excess. For the center of my flower, I added curled wire and beads.
