Project Instructions

For Barrette
Step 1 For circle patterns, trace 1½", 2" and 2½" diameter containers on copy paper. Use scissors to cut out patterns. Use loops of tape (adhesive side out) to attach 2½" circle pattern to lime green and 2" circle pattern to fuchsia felt. Cut close to edge of patterns.
Also place 1½" circle pattern onto photo, trace and cut out face.
Step 2 On lime green circle, use scissors to make ½" long slit about ¾" from one edge. Make a second parallel slit 1" over from first slit. Insert top of opened hair clip through slits and secure with Elmer’s® Washable School Glue Stick. Snap barrette shut. Set aside.
Step 3 Measure and cut two ½"x8" strips from fuchsia and two more from yellow. On each strip, form two loops by bringing ends to just meet in center of strip, applying generous amount of Washable School Glue Stick.
Step 4 Referring to photo, use generous amount of Glue Stick to attach one fuchsia loop to center of green circle barrette. Stack and glue second fuchsia loop in "X" position. Similarly, stack and glue two yellow loops to create full flower.
Step 5 Use Glue stick to attach photo to fuchsia circle. Use generous amount of Glue Stick to attach fuchsia circle to center of loops, noting direction of barrette so that it is horizontal with photo. Let dry.

For Headband:
Step 1 Refer to photo. On copy paper, draw 3" and 2½" diameter flowers with five loops. (Note: Petals are intentionally irregular sizes.) Draw 1"x2½" long simple leaf shape. Cut out patterns. Use loops of tape (adhesive side out) to attach patterns to felt: large flower – turquoise; small flower – fuchsia; 1½" diameter circle – yellow; and leaf – lime green. Cut out felt by cutting close to edge of patterns. Cut second leaf.
Step 2 Coming up from back of button, insert ends of embroidery floss through holes in button. Tie in knot on front. Trim ends. (Optional: Tie bow in embroidery floss, ribbon or string, trim ends and glue to top of button.)
Step 3 To assemble flower, refer to photo. Use Elmer’s® Washable School Glue Stick to stack and glue pieces (largest to smallest, ending with button on top). Apply Glue Stick to one end of leaf and attach under flower. Repeat with other leaf.
Step 4 Glue flower, slightly off center, to headband. Let dry.
