Adults can have fun creating these feminine styled boxes using Mod Podge®, printed tissue paper and cardstock. For something different, punch a hole on one side of the lid; add a black eyelet and then slide on a charm with a chain. Use these boxes for organization or pure inspiration in any room.
Step 1 Paint the boxes white and let dry completely.
Step 2 Cut strips of tissue paper to go around the sides of the boxes and Mod Podge® to boxes. Let dry completely.
Step 3 Use lids as a template. Place the lids face down onto the center of the back side of the cardstock. Trace lid with a pencil using dotted lines. (These will be your fold lines.) Next, turn lid on its sides and mark edges all around. Cut out the outside edge of the template with an X-ACTO® knife and straight edge. Place a straight edge along the dotted lines and fold the edges up. Attach paper to the lids with Mod Podge® or spray adhesive.
Step 4 Use a Crop-a-dile™ to punch a small hole on one side of each lid and attach an eyelet into each hole.
Step 5 Cut three sections of thin chain with wire cutters (3", 3½" and 4"). Attach a charm to the end of each section with a jump ring. Slide chain through the eyelet on the lid and then add another jump ring to the end of each chain to help hold the charm in place.
Step 6 If desired, trim lids with metal foil tape or thin ribbon trim. Add black trim along the base of the boxes.
Tips
For best results, paint boxes white and let dry before decoupaging tissue paper onto them. Refer to photo.
