Project Instructions

Lay natural canvas bag on a flat surface. Spray the bag liberally with water. Using a small amount of paint, begin painting the left side of the tote with Laguna. Then the right side of the bag with Bright Magenta in the same way. Repeat on the back of the bag. Lightly paint all edges of the bag with in Nutmeg Brown. Allow to dry.

Peel the paper backing off of the first Recollections™ floral embellishment and adhere in the upper left corner of the bag. Repeat with another color embellishment from the same package in the lower right corner of the bag.

Using 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue™, adhere more Recollections™ Floral Embellishments to the top left corner and bottom right corner as illustrated.

Cut 5 leaf shapes from the Lime Green cardstock. Crumple the shapes into a ball, and then unfold so that the leaf shapes have several fold lines in them. Rub each leaf over the Ranger Distress Ink™ in Antique Linen stamp pad, being sure to ink all of the edges and lines on the leaves. Glue the leaves down as illustrated.

Using the Sharpie® Fine Point Permanent Marker, handwrite your favorite poem or quote onto the white canvas bag. Cut the words into long strips. Pull any loose threads around the edges of the word strips, giving the strips a frayed look. Use the stamp pad to lightly ink the edges of the word strips. Glue the word strips down as illustrated.

Using Ecru embroidery thread, embroider several cross-stitches and running stitches along the strips as illustrated.

Glue Recollections™ lace embellishment to the top edge and along the handles of the bag as illustrated. Tie two small pieces of the lace into 2 knots. Glue the knotted lace to the bottom of the bag handles as illustrated.

Water is very important when painting on canvas. Don’t be afraid to get the bag wet. You will want to use lots of water on this project.
