Project Instructions
For a two-tiered cake, bake two 6-inch and two 8-inch round cakes. Let cool completely.
Frost with thin layer of Duff Buttercream Icing. Use Duffs gel colors to get the perfect shade. Freeze cakes before frosting to create a firmer surface for icing.
Dust work surface with thin layer of cornstarch to prevent fondant from sticking. Roll out fondant to approximately 1/8-inch to ¼-inch thick. Carefully lay over cake and trim off excess.
Roll out more fondant and cut various shapes with fondant cutters. Layer the shapes to create dimension. Play with it! Try twisting, rolling or molding it. Its just like clay! For more tips on how to work with fondant go to the Videos section of Michaels.com.
For a really awesome cake, add cake wires. Simply insert into your cake and add a decorative element to the end.
