Fringe Denim Scarf
- Pair of Old Non-Stretch Jeans (Each Pair of Jeans makes 2 Scarves)
- Seam Ripper
Cut one leg of the non-stretch denim jeans as close to the top seam as you can. Then cut the bottom seam off of the bottom of the leg. You don’t have to worry about cutting straight lines in this project as they won’t be noticeable once you fringe the scarf.
Cut and remove the thicker seam so you have the front and back of the jeans leg remaining and a small seam running down the center.
Use the Seam Ripper to loosen the horizontal threads from the denim. Once the threads are loose and exposed you can simply pull them out.
When first starting you can pull several threads out at a time but once you get threads that run the length of the leg I recommend pulling seams from the center of the leg and only pulling two threads at a time to avoid breakage.
Once you get close the seam you will go back to having shorter threads that are sewn into the leg seam. Use the same technique using the seam ripper but you will have to remove the threads by cutting them close to the seam.
Once you have removed all the horizontal threads, repeat the same process on the other side.
For a longer scarf use a jean in a long length. For a thicker scarf use a plus size pair of jeans.
