Martha Stewart Crafts™ Multi-Surface Glow-in-the-Dark Acrylic Paint
Martha Stewart Crafts™ Multi-Surface Glow-in-the-Dark Acrylic Paint is a waterbased, matte-finish, neon paint combined with glow characteristics.
What surfaces can I paint on?
You can paint on wood, papier-mâché, tin, terra cotta, canvas, plaster, Styrofoam, glass, and ceramics.
How should I prepare my surface?
- Wood – Sand smooth with fine grit sandpaper, wipe away sawdust.
- Tin – Wash with soap and water; wipe with white vinegar-dampened cloth.
- Glass/Ceramic – Wash with soap and water; wipe with rubbing alcohol-dampened cloth. Let air dry 15–30 minutes.
- Terra Cotta – Wipe clean; seal pot interior with paint or two coats of Martha Stewart Crafts Sprayable Satin Enamel Finish.
- Canvas – Wipe primed canvas clean; if unprimed, apply two coats of gesso primer.
- Papier-Mâché – Wipe clean with damp cloth.
- Plaster – Wipe clean with damp cloth.
Should I shake the bottle to mix?
Yes. Shake well.
What tools should I use?
Use a soft bristle brush or foam pouncer.
Can I use it with the Martha Stewart Crafts Spray Paint Kit?
Yes. Be sure to mix the paint with the spray medium and follow directions on package.
Can I speed up the drying process using a fan, hair dryer, or heat gun?
Can I hand paint or stencil over the it?
How do I cure the paint on glass or ceramics?
Allow item to dry for one hour to be sure all layers of paint have dried. Place project in a cool oven. Set oven temperature to 350ºF and bake for 30 minutes. Glass must heat gradually with the oven to avoid breakage. Do not place glass in a hot oven. After 30 minutes, turn the oven off. Let glass cool completely in oven. Do not use for 72 hours.
Air dry project for 21 days before use.
Can I wash glassware after it is cured?
Yes, painted glassware can be safely washed by hand without chipping, cracking, or fading and is top-shelf dishwasher safe.
Can I use it as an accent or stencil over another non-glowing paint?
Yes. Be sure previous layers are dry before painting on top.
Can I mix colors to create a new color?
Yes, the Glow-in-the-Dark colors can be mixed to create a new shade. However, mixing with non-glowing colors will affect the glow properties of the paint.
Do I need to seal it?
No. Because it is a self-priming paint, it can seal and provide color at the same time.
If I seal it with Martha Stewart Crafts Glow-in-the-Dark Finish, will it increase my project’s glow?
Do I need to “charge” my Martha Stewart Multi-Surface Glow-in-Dark Acrylic Craft Paint?
Yes. Charge in sunlight or indoor light for 30 minutes. The glow will depend on how many paint layers were applied and length of charge.
How should I clean tools?
Clean tools while still wet. Wash with soap and water or with Brush & Stencil Cleaner: apply cleaner; work into lather, rinse in cool water, and let dry.
