Approx 49" (124.5 cm) square.
Gauge
13 sc and 14 rows = 4” (10 cm).
1 Motif = Approx 7” (18 cm) square.
Basic Motif
Make 12 Motifs each with A, C and D as Color 1.
Make 8 Motifs with B as Color 1.
With Color 1, ch 5. Join with sl st to form a ring.
1st rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 2 dc in ring. (Ch 3. 3 dc)
3 times in ring. Ch 3. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
2nd rnd: Sl st in each of next 2 dc and next ch-3 sp.
Ch 3 (counts as dc). (2 dc. Ch 3. 3 dc) in same sp as sl st. *Ch 1. (3 dc. Ch 3. 3 dc) all in next ch-3 sp (corner). Rep from * twice more. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
3rd rnd: Sl st in each of next 2 dc and next ch-3 sp. Ch 3 (counts as dc). (2 dc. Ch 3. 3 dc) in same sp as sl st. *Ch 1.
3 dc in each ch-1 sp to corner. Ch 1. (3 dc. Ch 3. 3 dc) all in next corner ch-3 sp. Rep from * twice more. Ch 1. 3 dc in each ch-1 sp to end. Ch 1. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
4th rnd: As 3rd rnd. Break Color 1.
5th rnd: Join MC with sl st to any ch-3 sp. Ch 3 (counts as dc). (2 dc. Ch 3. 3 dc) in same sp as sl st. *Ch 1. 3 dc in each ch-1 sp to corner. Ch 1. (3 dc. Ch 3. 3 dc) all in next corner ch-3 sp. Rep from * twice more. Ch 1. 3 dc in each ch-1 sp to end. Ch 1. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off.
4-Square Motif (make 5)
Make 1 Small Motif each with A, B, C and D as Color 1.
Small Motif
With Color 1, ch 5. Join with sl st to form ring.
1st rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 2 dc in ring. (Ch 3. 3 dc)
3 times in ring. Ch 3. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. Break Color 1.
2nd rnd: Join MC to any ch-3 sp. Ch 3 (counts as dc).
(2 dc. Ch 3. 3 dc) in same sp as sl st. *Ch 1. (3 dc. Ch 3.
3 dc) all in next ch-3 sp. Rep from * twice more. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off.
Join 4 Small Motifs into 4-Square Motif: *With WS tog, join MC to top right corner of 2 Small Motifs. Working through both thicknesses, sl st in each st and
sp to end of row. Do not fasten off. Rep from * across next 2 Small Motifs. Fasten off. Turn work 90 degrees
and join rem seam in same manner. Fasten off.
Edging
1st rnd: (RS). Join MC with sl st to any corner ch-3 sp. Ch 1. 3 sc in same sp as sl st. 1 sc in each dc and ch-1 sp around, working 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Finishing
Sew Motifs tog using flat seam as shown in diagram.
Blanket edging
(RS). Join MC with sl st to any corner sc. Ch 3 (counts as dc). 4 dc in same sp. *Work 22 dc across edge of each Motif to next corner sc. 5 dc in corner sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off.
