Project Instructions

Step: 1

Cut a rectangle from both brown and light tan cardstock, making them slightly smaller than the journal cover. Trim the edges of the light tan rectangle with the pinking shears. Stamp the large flourish image with palm ink and the flower image with warm red ink. Attach the light tan rectangle to the brown rectangle using a zigzag stitch around all four sides.

Step: 2

Cut a 6½-inch strip from the printed stripes paper and trim the right side with the scallop-edged scissors. Glue the strip to the light tan rectangle at a slight angle, then add two lines of stitching near the left edge of the strip. (Don’t worry about keeping the stitching perfectly straight.) Attach the entire assembly to the front cover.

Step: 3

Cut a tag shape from the orange dotted paper. Stamp “gratitude” with dark brown ink and the bracket image with chestnut roan ink. Add three rows of stitching below “gratitude” and two small pieces of printed stripes paper above it. Add “thoughts of” with the journaling pen.

Step: 4

Punch a hole in the tag and loop a piece of ribbon through it. Glue the tag to the journal.

Use photo as a guide and follow manufacturer’s instructions for all products used.

If you don’t want to use your sewing machine, you can create faux stitching with rub-ons or by drawing the stitching with a thin journaling pen.

When cutting, use the straight-edged scissors unless otherwise indicated.
