Project Instructions

Pre-wash T-shirt in cool water. Do not dry.

While damp, gather fabric into a small cone just above center of tee. Add a rubber band tightly about 1½" from top. Add more rubber bands to create four additional sections.

Prepare yellow, orange, fuchsia and teal) dyes as directed. Make sure bottles are shaken well.

Wearing gloves, pour some yellow on the top section, making sure dye is saturated on all sides. Follow with the orange in the next banded off section and repeat with turquoise, then fuchsia, turquoise and orange on the bottom. Let dye set 6-8 hours.

Without removing rubber bands, run tee through cold wash cycle in washing machine with a little soap.

Remove rubber bands. Dry T-shirt in dryer then press with iron.

Lay T-shirt on work surface and cut off ribbed portion of neckline. Cut approximately 2" off each sleeve.

Create fringed bottom by cutting ½" wide strips approximately 4" in length along hemline.

Cut the excess fabric from sleeves into ten 6-8" long, ¼" wide strips. Gather five strips together at top and stitch to top of shoulder of T-shirt.

Repeat on second shoulder as shown.

Cut two 4" strips from discarded ribbed area of neckline. Using needle and thread gather and coil around into a little flower. Stitch to hold together and then sew on top of shoulder fringes. If desired, add beads or buttons for added embellishment.

Enlarge peace pattern to desired size. Place on center of tee with the heart in the yellow section. Transfer peace sign pattern on tee by placing transfer paper on tee with pattern on top and tracing over lines using pencil.

Pour some Crimson Red and Ebony on palette. Paint heart with Crimson Red and peace sign with Ebony. Let dry.

Using pencil, lightly freehand desired words on tee. Draw over letters with Slick Black 3D Fashion Paint. Let dry.

For body art, follow directions on packaging and apply Tulip® Body Art™ paint where and as desired.

Leave rubber bands on tie-dyed T-shirt while washing to prevent dye from running.
