Project Instructions

Step 1
Using the slight ridge on the surface of the ball as a guide, cut the smaller ball in half.

Step 2
Paint the large ball and both halves of the smaller ball black.

Step 3
Cut four small, identical triangles from black foam. Adhere two together over the top of a toothpick to create an ear. Push the toothpick into the top of the large ball (head) so the base of the triangle rests on the surface.

Step 4
Fold three black chenille stems in half. Make a pilot hole with a dowel, or pencil, then glue, the folded ends of the chenille into the hole. Let dry then flatten the ends outward to create whiskers.

Step 5
Glue an orange circle of foam (or button) on top of the center of the whiskers (for the nose) and the wiggle eyes above the nose.

Step 6
Cut a crescent moon shape from sticky back felt, then snip away narrow pieces from the bottom edge upwards to create kitty's grin. Adhere to the head.

Step 7
Push one dowel into the top of each half ball. Connect two pieces of black chenille, then wrap each dowel from top to bottom.

Step 8
Connect two pieces of orange chenille then wrap each dowel to create black and orange stripes. Push opposite end of each dowel into the base of the head. Adjust placement as needed so the kitty will stand.

Step 9
Cut a 2"-3" of giant black chenille then wrap around the top of each shoe. Glue a button to the front.

Step 10
Cut about a 12" piece of giant black chenille for the tail. Make a small pilot hole with a dowel, then gently push one end into the base of the head. Glue in place if needed.

Use a dowel or pencil to hold Smoothfoam™ pieces while painting.
