Project Instructions

BIRTHDAY SHAPES:

With so many papers to choose from, narrow down your palette to 4-5 colors.

I chose purple, blue, orange, yellow and green because I felt this was a unisex color palette.

Using your paper Creatology™ shapes, determine which is the front side of your plain paper shape and trace around it front side down on the back of your selected scrapbooking papers.

Cut out 4 cupcake papers, 4 cupcake tops, 4 candles, 4 candle tops and 4 flames.

Glue these papers to the Creatology™ paper shapes.

Embellish the shapes with glitter and sequins.

MEDALLIONS:

Using a decorative scissor, cut a 1 1/2” strip from the end of a 12”x12” sheet of scrapbooking paper

Accordian-fold the paper back and forth at approx ½” fold line.

Hot glue the ends together to form an open circle.

Once the glue is cooled, press the paper together to form the medallion.

Glue the accordian medallion down on a 1” circle to hold it together.

Top the medallion with paper punched circles.

a.       Layer 1: Punch (8) 1 ½” silver glitter paper.

b.       Layer 2: Punch (8) 1 3/8” white circles with scallops.

c.       Layer 3: Paint your chipboard alphabet letters with acrylic paint to coordinate with their birthday shape and medallion. You can also buy chipboard letters that are already glittered. Once the paint has dried, put glue on the letters and sprinkle glitter color to match paint. Let dry and then glue the letters onto the medallions. I punched small flowers from the silver glitter paper and put a sequin in the center to add detail to the letters.

CUPCAKES:

Cover a small Christmas ball or Styrofoam ball with glue and glitter to represent a cherry on top of the cupcake. Punch a medium size flower and glue it to the back of the “cherry” for extra sparkle.

CANDLES:

Glue seed beads to the “flame” for detail.

Glue the medallions to the Creatology™ shapes with hot glue.

Glue a soda can tab to the back of each Creatology™ shape. Use fishing line to string the shapes to a string of LED lights.

“HAPPY”:

Punch (5) 1” circles from colors of your choice.

Glue rick rack to the back of the circle to embellish the edge.

Punch (5) small circle flowers from the silver glitter paper.

Glue the letters “HAPPY” to the circles with adhesive dots for dimension, add small glitter flowers for embellishment.

Paint 5 clothes pins gray and sprinkle with glitter. Glue the “HAPPY” circles to the clothes pins.

Hang the “HAPPY” clothes pins on the LED string of lights. Enjoy the dazzling display!

Tips

This birthday banner is intended to be used year after year. Store it in a plastic “under-the-bed” container for safe keeping, and when it’s birthday time, hang it from the mantle or string it anywhere to honor the birthday person. The LED lights make it really special!
