Project Instructions

Paint wooden beads orange. Set aside and let dry.

Place fabric on flat workspace, with the wrong side facing up. Using the ruler, lightly mark lines at 3/4" intervals with pencil.

Place a small line of glue over pencil lines.

Immediately squeegee the glue with cardboard to smooth glue over fabric.

While glue is wet, cut along pencil line. Cut strip into 3" - 4" lengths.

On the wrong side of the fabric strip, apply a small amount of glue onto one end of the fabric. Cut straw to ¾" and place into the glue.

Roll the fabric over the drinking straw.

Apply a small amount of glue along the edge of fabric. Squeegee glue with cardboard.

Finish rolling into bead. Repeat for each bead.

Cover pre-painted wooden beads with embroidery floss. For each bead, you will need approximately 1½ yards of orange embroidery floss. Thread needle through hole and repeat in and out until the bead is covered. If you want to tie these beads onto the necklace, do not cut off excess thread. If you plan to thread onto necklace, secure and cut off excess floss.

To make a tassel, wrap the embroidery floss around three fingers about 10 - 15 times.

Tie off top edge of floss. This will be the top of tassel.

Place small drop of glue at top edge. Place a 6" piece of floss into the glue and wrap tightly around top edge about 5 times. Knot end at top to help hold in place. Cut tassel open at the bottom.

Trim tassel ends even at bottom edge.

Layout necklace on beading board and thread onto black embroidery floss to create necklace of desired length.
