Hang the key ring from a hook or nail and center both strands of the lacing on the ring by adjusting the strands so the ends are even.
Form a braid by repeating Figures 1-4 until 12" of loose strands remain. Turn the braid upside down and hold the braid so you have each set of matching strands going in opposite directions (Figure 5).
Make one square stitch to secure (Figures 6-9). Form one loose square stitch. Pass the key ring end of the braid UP through the middle of the square stitch (Figure 10). DO NOT tighten completely. The square stitch must be loose enough to move up and down the braid.
Continue making LOOSE square stitches until about 4" of plastic lace remains. Keep the last square stitch a little loose; it should be snug but still loose enough to allow the lanyard to be adjusted (Figure 11).
Trim the excess plastic lacing and add a dab of glue to secure (Figure 12).
