Step 1: Thread a large gold dapped ring onto the center of your silver chain. Take the two ends of the silver chain and using chain nose pliers, link the ends together with a jump ring
Step 2: Using chain nose pliers, attach a jump ring to a large spring clasp. Attach the jump ring from Step 1 to the jump ring attached to the chain.
Step 3: Cut four pieces of copper chain each 7-inches in length and using a pair of chain nose pliers attach a single jump ring to the final link connecting all four pieces of chain. Attach the jump ring to the large brass dapped ring.
Step 4: Take a second large dapped ring --we used an oxidized silver colored ring and repeat Step 3.
Step 5: Find the center of the bottom copper chain and using your chain nose pliers, attach a jump ring followed by a large dapped ring.
Step 6: Approximately 1/2-inch from each side of the center ring attach a jump ring followed by a spacer bead.
Step 7: Measure 1-inch from each spacer bead and attach a jump ring followed by a flat charm. We used a circular charm with the word "close" inscribed on one side and a medium sized textured silver ring on the other side. Tip: It does not matter what charms you choose but flat circular forms work best.
Step 8: Cut 4-inches of the silver chain ending with the dapped diamond ring. Repeat so that you have two pieces of silver chain which each end with the dapped diamond shaped ring. At the end of each ring attach a jump ring.
Step 9: You will essentially create a "Chain-Maille Effect" with the front-piece of this necklace: let's get started! A. Attach a jump ring to each of your first row of charms. B. Using your jump rings and a pair of chain nose pliers, attach the charm the furthest to the left to the second charm and then attach the second charm to your center-piece dapped ring. C. On the right side of your center-piece ring attach a jump ring followed by a washer charm. Attach a second jump ring to your washer charm and attach the washer charm to the fourth charm in your first row. D. Using a jump ring and your chain nose pliers, attach the fourth charm to the final charm in your row.
Step 10: Create the second row of your front piece: Start by taking four medium sized spacer beads and attach one bead to each of your first row of charms. A. Take a jump ring and attach the two rings on the left -- second row of your necklace together. B. Attach the second charm to your center charm with a jump ring. C. Attach your third charm to the right side of your center charm with a jump ring and then attach a second jump ring and attach it to the washer charm. E. Attach a second jump ring to your final second-row charm and attach it to the washer.
Step 11: Third Row: Attach a third jump ring to each charm on your second row. Working left to right: A. Attach a large dapped ring to the left most second row charm. B. Attach a large dapped ring to the center large dapped ring (in the first row). C. Attach a large dapped ring to the spacer bead on the second row that is furthest to your right.
Step 12: Securing your row: Your third row contains three large dapped rings, for extra support add a second jump ring followed by a spacer charm between the three large rings. The third row will now have: Large ring, spacer bead, large ring, spacer bead, large ring. Step 12: Attach the large dapped ring furthest to the left to the diamond shaped ring that is attached to the silver chain. Repeat on the right side of the necklace.
Step 13: Subtle Additives: Attach charms "inside" the top center large dapped ring and the large dapped rings on the left and right on the third row of your design. Attach the charms using existing jump rings which are already in place on the rings.
Step 14: Talisman Dangle: Using a jump ring hang from your centerpiece-which should now have two large dapped rings a large textured ring.
Step 15: Attach a jump ring on either side of the center jump ring followed by a spacer bead shaped charm. Attach a second jump ring to this charm and attach it to the large dapped rings to the right and the left of the center ring.
Step 16: Your "Chain-Maille" center-piece should now form a "V" shape. Now dangle talisman charms from your final ring. We strung nine charms in total to complete our design.
