Project Instructions

Measure and cut a 2"x3" rectangle of newspaper print. Glue to the top of the journal cover. Cut two ½"x3" pieces of cardboard with scissors. Cut two ½"x1½" pieces of cardboard. Glue strips along the border of your newspaper print rectangle. This will be the frame for your glitter shaker box.

Glue strips of newspaper on top of your cardboard frame. Sprinkle glitter on the inside of the rectangle. Cut a 2"x3" piece of acetate with scissors. Glue acetate on top of your frame. Decorate by gluing type keys to the corners of your frame. You’ve now completed your shaker box.

Take colored ribbon and cut along edges with scissors. Using your fingers, gently fray the cut edges of the ribbon. Gather a few strands and tie together. String ribbon through a jump ring. Using your pliers, close the jump ring. Attach to your favorite found object charms (such as Resin Leaf and Stone Dangle) to create a finished tassel.

Using your hole punch, punch a hole in the top left hand corner of the journal cover. Take a strand of ribbon and attach your tassel and tie it through the hole in your journal.

Using your scissors, cut edges of journal for an old, worn look. Using your oil pastels, color your journal cover. Glue pieces of newspaper print and film to finish off your cover.

Glue the hand pendant on the right hand side of your journal.
